الوصف
الملخص:This study aims to highlight the prophetic glad tidings as found in the nine books of al-Íadīth (al-kutub al-tis‘ah). It focuses exclusively on prophetic glad tidings related to worldly life rather than the hereafter: his glad tidings about ten companions entering paradise, the main signs of the doomsday such as the emergence of al-Imam al-Mahdi and the descent of the prophet ‘Isa ‘alayhi al-salam down to earth. The study employs the deductive methodology by collecting such hadiths relevant to the issue under discussion. These hadiths are further classified into three major categories: prophetic glad tidings related to particular individuals, groups and the muslim society in general. The study also deploys critical methodology to ascertain the degree or level of hadith authenticity. Analytical descriptive methodology is similarly applied to examine the hadiths and the opinion of muslim scholars. The research comes to the conclusion that glad tidings related to individuals and groups (the first and the second category) has materialized, while glad tidings related to the affairs of muslim society have not all yet materialized. In other words, the proven glad tidings prove that Prophet Muhammad S.A.W never spoke of his own desire except what Allah has revealed. The study finally explains the importance of prophetic glad tidings in the field of da’wah and the way to deal with them by ascertaining their authenticity, understanding them properly according to the rules of Arabic language and in the light of the context of hadith and its occasions, as well as in accordance to qur’anic texts and other hadiths.
