Summary:This research deals with "Islamic Judges in Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates at the present time". It including the definition of the judiciary and a summary history of the judiciary and it also discusses the issues relating to contemporary Islamic judges, the criteria of their appointment, rights, duties, and also their contribution to the reformation of the society. It finally attempts to compare and evaluate these issues from an Islamic perspective. The study follows the interpolation method, in tracking the sources of judicial doctrine with respect to the subject at hand. It also relies on the analytical method to study the laws and regulations governing the Islamic judges in the present era. The most important points of conclusion that the researcher has arrived at, are as follows: The current system of Islamic Judiciary running in Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates was derived from the Prophet's judicial system. The Islamic judges in Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates are very important for the community and effectively playing vital roles to protect societal interests. The Islamic Judges in Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates should allow enjoying perfect judicial independence and they are in need to be given more consideration with adequate compensation. There is a need to establish a management advisory and cooperative system and interoperability between the Islamic judges in the Arab world and other Muslim countries. There is a need to re-organize the Islamic Judiciary by extending the Jurisdiction of the Shariah Judges, to criminal matters; this will allow them to cope with the tremendous recent developments.
