520 |a The purpose of this research was to study the critical Thinking skills of students who undergone the Master of Teaching Thinking program in IIUM, Malaysia. This study was qualitative in nature. It employed the descriptive phenomenological approach to bring to the fore the experiences and perceptions of individuals from their own perspectives, while and after undergoing this particular program. The main research questions that guided this study were: “How do the Master of Education students' in the Teaching of Thinking program view critical thinking?” and “How do students' experiences of the program contributed to the changes in their critical thinking?” Data collection was carried out through observation, interview and Hogan Lovells' critical thinking test. Based on the themes that emerged from the data, three conclusions were drawn from this study. Firstly, pedagogical experience was a key factor in promoting critical thinking. Secondly, personal experiences had the most influence in promoting the development of students' critical thinking. Finally, religious experience was also mentioned by the participants as another aspect to have strongly shaped the development of their critical thinking. Practical implications and recommendations for future research were also provided. Based on the result of this study it can be assumed that the master of education, Teaching Thinking program in International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) has improved students' critical thinking skills, and therefore the Islamic University of Malaysia model in the Teaching Thinking Program can be promoted to other Muslim countries. In the long run, this will improve Muslim students' critical thinking skills, which will benefit the Muslims Ummah, Insya Allah.
