The study attempts to answer some central questions about Ennahdhah Movement and its experience in the government: Has it succeeded in achieving the objectives it adopted and announced before reaching the government and during the period from its foundation until the fall of the Ben Ali regime? Will this movement succeed in overcoming the present and future challenges? The researcher carried out an analytical historical study in order to uncover the necessary and relevant data that can enable us to evaluate the political experience of Ennahdhah Movement Party and assess its performance both within and outside the government. The Writings of Ennahdhah president Sheikh Rached al-Ghannouchi have occupied a prominent place in the study due to their intellectual and theoretical value in the general orientation and major choices of the Movement. Expert studies, media reports and different studies and writings that directly or indirectly related to the subject of the satudy have also found their proper place in the development of the present study. In the light of all that, the researcher arrived at what may be considered a tentative assessment of the political experience of Ennahdhah Party. This is because this experience is still progressing and has not come to an end and because the future unfolding of Ennahdhah's political action might reach new horizons hitherto unheard of. Of the findings arrived at is the fact that Ennahdhah Movement has achieved an important part, though not all, of its objectives: It has contributed in a crucial way to Tunisia's realizing political stability and social security and keeping away from sliding into civil war, military coups or political chaos, as has happened in Egypt, Syria, Libya and Yemen. Ennahdhah Movement has also played a great role in the drafting and endorsement of the new Tunisian Constitution and in leading the country to the legislative and presidential elections in late 2014. However, these achievements were not made without the Movement facing internal crisis and external difficulties in which it did not prove successful and satisfactorily efficient, which might affect seriously its popularity and political future. | ||
