| Summary: | Indeed, the Qur'an is a book of guidance, peace and security. It possesses a noble approach for the maintenance of peace, stability and the establishment of man on this earth so as to carry out his divine responsibility of worship and succession – i.e. to uphold Allah's religion, His Laws, and to Build and develop the world, spread justice, love, mercy, peace and security. Unfortunately, some people are ignorant or feign ignorance of this fact and turn away from it, making people attribute rigidity, fear, disorder and crises to the Qur'an be it ignorantly, unjustly or due to enmity thereby debarring the general masses from the true message of the Quran. The fact still remains very clear on the role played by the Glorious Qur'an towards maintenance of peace and stability and so that man might live in peaceful co-existence with his kinsmen, fellow co religionist, fellow citizen, the generality of humanity and other living thing in existence. This and other Qur'anic facts are what the researcher has tried to shed light on in this research work. The researcher aims at showing the uniqueness of the Qur'an and its methodology, principles and concepts for the maintenance of security in all ramifications, strata and levels of society. The researcher had relied on deductive thematic and analytical methodology as he explores the Qur'an verses that discuss security and related terminologies such as: peace, safety, defense and Jihad coupled with the commentaries of our scholars and their exegesis. The researcher has laid down some principles and approaches for further educational research works concerned with the methodology, principle and strategy in maintaining security and stability from the perspective of divine revelation derived from the Creator, The most Subtle and All Aware. And some of the conclusions the researcher arrived at is that, achieving and sustaining security is a main goal of the Noble Qur'an for it did not leave out any means required to achieve and maintain security except that it was clarified and encouraged, either from the onset by instilling sincere faith and good character, then by being security conscious or by the use of legal (Islamic) military warfare and necessary authority . |
