| Summary: | The purpose of this study is to understand the views of engaged students of IIUM in dealing with the ahadith on the prohibition of khalwah and how far the engaged students of IIUM limit themselves in interacting with their fiancees according to the prophetic guidance. In addition, this research also examines the significant correlation between two of its variables. Nowadays, in the Muslim worlds we are facing a situation where there are many people do not follow the limitations prescribed by shari'ah during their engagement period and they are still committing khalwah. This happens mainly because the majority of those who are engaged are not aware of the ahadith on prohibition of khalwah or they do not have better understanding of the ahadith. Thus, a research was conducted by surveying students who had attended the pre-marriage courses at IIUM in mid of February 2013.The questionnaires were equally divided between the sexes. The collected data were analyzed via descriptive statistical method through SPSS. The conclusion of this research showed that almost half of the respondents have high normative understanding towards the ahadith on the prohibition of khalwah and there are almost 60% of the respondents with high limitation level of interaction with their fiancée. Finally, the result indicated that the level understanding towards the ahadith on the prohibition of khalwah and the limitation level of the interaction with their fiance/fiancee were significantly and positively correlated. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding about the ahadith on the prohibition of khalwah should be strongly instilled in engaged Muslim couples, especially IIUM students. |
