Description
Summary:In recent times, Islamic medical centers have spread widely in Malaysia, as a consequence of rising demands for treatment based on "al-Tibb al-Nabawi" and they are gaining attention because of the failure of traditional and modern medical treatment. Strangely, some of the centers established for Islamic medical purpose are not qualified to do this job; the practitioners do not possess sufficient knowledge about the subject while their practices do not conform to shariah issues that must be met in Islamic incantation (Ruqyah), the practitioners and the patients. This research attempts to clarify the condition of Darul Ruqyah which has been established in Kedah and its methods in healing black magic. The question is, to what extent is their practice allowed in Islam? Hence, this research seeks to analyse the views of al- Qur'an and Sunnah related to their methods in treating diseases. The researcher adapts three methodologies in performing this study. Firstly, it consist of inductional approach in collecting all books, articles, thesis related to incantations especially about healing black magic. Secondly, through qualitative approach, interview and observation is used to get information about Darul Ruqyah, its background, and it's practices in healing black magic. Thirdly, through analytical approach, takhrĩj is used in explaining the status of its methodology in healing black magic. The study has found that Darul Ruqyah adopts ten methods in healing black magic: finding the place of black magic and removing it, ruqyah with gust, drinking or taking bath water recited with ruqyah in it, ultra treatment, touching body of patients, spiritual therapy, treating with natural medicine, spraying ruqyah water at personal belongings, using modern technology in treatment and making diagnosis/scanning. These methods largely conform to the practice of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) except three which are spraying ruqyah water at personal belongings, using modern technology in treatment, and making diagnosis/scanning. The study has confirmed that the principle of ruqyah in Islam is that the healing depends outrightly on Allah s.w.t alone, while treatment and practitioners are efforts in giving cure. It must conform with Islamic principles because Allah has not made a cure of a paticular disease in the items that He has declared haram.
