The translation of Dāstān-e-Amīr Hamza Sahibqirān in the form of The Adventures of Amir Hamza: Lord of the Auspicious Planetary Conjunction (2008) by Musharraf Ali Farooqi has brought this important piece of Islamic literature into limelight. The study elucidates the general historical context in which the story in The Adventures of Amir Hamza: Lord of the Auspicious Planetary Conjunction was conceived and has explored the history and development of the narrative. It aims at exploring the techniques and compositional dynamics in which the South Asian storytellers used structural and thematic devices to weave a long story. It also analyzes the relevance of The Adventures of Amir Hamza: Lord of the Auspicious Planetary Conjunction within the larger context of popular Islamic literature and Dāstān tradition.
