Description
Summary:The study examines the influence of the KAFA approach in understanding selected Islamic fiqh terms among Malaysian students. To this end, the study reviews the theoretical framework and literature regarding Islamic education with a focus on Islamic religious education in Malaysia. As an empirical study, the study employed the descriptive analytical method in order to answer the research questions. The study recruited 05 parents whose children studied under the KAFA approach at two schools (Menara Languages Center and Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Pusu). The study found that parental attention towards Islamic religious education was high; there was a sound agreement among parents about the role of KAFA on their children. The study revealed that there is a positive relationship between parental attitudes toward Islamic education and the influence of the KAFA approach on their children. The study, however, found that there are some problems in applying the KAFA approach such as the voluntarily nature of Islamic education in Islamic schools and institutions, and the lack of understanding of the Arabic language. The study concludes by offering recommendations including the need for new policies and strategies regarding Islamic religious education in Malaysia and the need to integrate Islamic religious education at all levels of education.
