Summary:People nowadays have developed in using solar water heating system regardless for domestic or commercial use. Nevertheless, the system is being restricted to be implemented in roofless personalized apartment house due to the limitation of space and area while considering the solar collector existed today use lots of space and even only appropriately to be installed at the rooftop of the roofed houses. Thus, this research is conducted to design and fabricate a new solar collector with multilayered absorber as well as to evaluate the performance of the solar collector in terms heat loss of which can later be installed in roofless personalized apartment houses. Methods used in this research include designing a solar collector by designing absorber to a multilayered design using Catia designer software, fabricating all components of the solar collector, assembling the fabricated components of solar collector covering the main parts which are the cover, absorber, and base in which the fabricated solar collector with multilayered absorber is then tested and evaluated by examining under three experiments of different evaluated conditions. The results show the impact to the solar water heating system is indeed predictable where solar collector is proven to play its main role when it able to absorb high intensity of the global radiation which is 1252 W/m2 at 13.00 hour with the high total amount of solar energy to solar collector; 300.6 W, absorb high useful heat which then can help in producing hot water at maximum amount of 486.74 J/s at 14.00 hour, keep the hot water (temperature) longer at minimum amount of 176.4 W/unit area as for heat loss, as well as able to adapt in multidirectional solar radiation with different intensity of solar simulator. Plus, the vertical and cubic design of the multilayered absorber is suitable to be implemented at the roofless personalized apartment house after considering a reasonable and affordable material selections and overall cost in order to accomplish it.
