Description
Summary:Musnad Imam Abi Dawud at-Tayalisi is the major focus of this research in which it highlights the methodology of its author, Imam Abu Dawud at-Tayalisi and his senior discipline, Yunus Ibn Habib as used in the Musnad. The Musnad at-Tayalisi is known as one of the oldest books in Islamic history, where it was compiled in the early-second century A.H. It contains "al-Ahadith al-Thulathiyyah" or "Isnad al-Ali" which means that all ahadith were narrated by three narrators from the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH); they are the Companions, Successors and Successors of the Successors. Due to that, Musnad at-Tayalisi is considered as one of the primary sources reported in the filed of hadith. In this research, three main methodologies of study were employed; inductive approach which revised each hadith and all contents mentioned in Musnad at-Tayalisi and other books related to this study, historical-descriptive approach which looked at the life of the author and the context of this book, and analytical-critical approach which analyzed the statements and critics towards Musnad at-Tayalisi. This study is presented in four chapters that contained the bioghraphy of Imam Abu Dawud at-Tayalisi, the definition of his Musnad, the ascribed value and acknowledged position of his Musnad, and his methodology as well as some criticisms directed at him and his Musnad. This study has uncovered several findings including the author's emphasis in narrating the legal text of ahadith (Ahadith al Ahkam) where most of them are authentic. Manu scholars have narrated hadith following the method used by Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi or other methods of transmission, but the text if the hadith should be similar in pronunciation and meaning, or one of them only. Imam Abi Dawud at-Tayalisi preferred to transmit hadith through connected Transmission (Riwayah Muttasilah) more than Mursal (incompletely transmitted) and munqati' (disconnected) even though one of the narrators is weak.
