Description
Summary:This research is conducted due to the unavailability of a comparative research on al-Razi and Ibn-'Ashur's methodology in al-Munasabah. The present research sheds light upon the etymology of al-Munasabah, its importance, its developement, and the Qur'anic interpreters' view on that. This research also tries to investigate the life of al-Razi and Ibn-'Ashur, and their impact on tafsir scholars after them. The study examines the impact of the era of al-Razi and Ibn-'Ashur on their books of tafsir. To achive the study's goals, the researcher has used descriptive, inductive, comparative and analytical methods due to the nature of the subject matter. The following are some of the most important results of this study: (i) The order of the chapters and verses of Qur'an that we see today is based on revelation. (ii) al-Munasabat is an important term in the Qur'anic terminology which is used to investigate the special organization of each sura with reference to arrangement and structure, and shows the secrets behind the arrangement of the verses, helping to stand against all smear campaigns which aim at criticizing its I'jaz (wondrous nature) and structure. (iii) It sheds light on the reasons behind repetition of stories in Qur'an, and highlights the wisdom of striking parables, trimming the stories, as required by circumstances. (iv) The study proved that the book Mafatih al-Ghayb is the totall work of al-Razi, contrary to what has been said by some historians. (v) Mafatih al-Ghayb is an inclusive explanation, as Razi did not leave anything behind from what was said by former 'ulama about any verse. He throughly discussed their doctrines, and refuted their false views by stating his own opinion. His book has significant impact on the writings of 'Ulama who came after him. (vi) Tafsir Ibn 'Atiyeh is one of the most important sources of Ibn 'Ashur in his interpretation of the Holy Qur'an. (vii) al-Tahrir wa al-Tanwir is an elite interpretation of Qur'an. This book has contributed to tafsir with many new and unique benefits. Ibn 'Ashur's unique contribution is due to his knowledge and experiences of his predecessors in this field, adding the culture gained from his teachers, which reflected the culture of that era, and the power of science and education at the University of Zeytooneh. It features the expanded linguistic implications, and maqasedic approach, reform and innovative vision in the interpretation of the Qur'an. He has mentioned some of the Munasabat which is not mentioned by Razi and opposes him in some occations.
