Summary: | Reforming the inner-self is the basis for reforming and purifying the soul in order to set it and keep it on the path of Tawhid. This is especially true for today's world in which we often care more about the outer appearance, ignoring thereby Allah's commandment to reform the heart, which is the place where good deeds originate i.e. if the inner-self is reformed, the outer-self should follow. Hence, the present study aims to investigate the Qura'nic approach to inner-self reformation by collecting the Qura'nic verses that deal with it and deriving the rules the Qura'n set to go about it. The findings showed that there is a strong relationship between the psychological diseases of the heart and bad deeds. This is because bad behaviour is often a reflection of one's inner-self. The findings also revealed that a firm belief in Tawhid results in the consistency of one's thoughts, emotions, goals and behaviour, because Tawhid leads one to the recognition of Allah's supremacy and dominion over everything. Finally, the study discussed the relationship between the Qura'nic approach to innerself reformation and straightforwardness along with its implications. |
