He is known as one of the scholars who has published a lot of academic works. His publications consisted of 222 books in various disciplines and all were written in three languages: Arabic, Urdu and Persian. These included topics on various Islamic knowledge fields specifically tafsir (Quranic exegesis), fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence), usul al- fiqh (Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence) and aqidah (Islamic Creed). His publications became the main interest in academic research. As for his hadith work, there have been several research done on his publications. This fact eventually aroused the interest of the researcher to highlight the academic efforts of this great scholar in the field of hadith which consisdted of 18 books. Two methods were adopted in this research. Inductive method was used to track the efforts of Imam Al-Qannuji in this field. Analytical method was used to verify the texts attributed to him from his writings and opinions in his books. Analysis of this research concluded many important results; one is that Imam Al-Qannuji was the most prominent scholars of India who have made efforts to spread the knowledge of Sunnah in India and that the accusations made against him that “his works are not of his efforts, but the efforts of other scholars” are invalid. Most of his writings were printed during his lifetime. Indeed, he was a rare personality who was able to balance between leadership and scholarship. | ||
