Summary: | This study follows the theoretical analysis and applied method to analyze the specifications of the reading texts in Arabic language syllabus in Malaysian high secondary schools in order to identify the aspects that can be improved based on scientific studies and standard criteria of selecting a good text. From this, a survey was conducted among fifth year high school students in (18) secondary schools that were randomly picked all over Malaysia. Their views on their needs and difficulties from the reading text were factored in. Based on these criteria's nine education modules were built as a proposed reading text for both fourth and fifth year of secondary schools. The results of the study reached by the researcher are: student failure to follow the course of the Arabic language in its content by linking the lessons of reading texts in the branches of the Arabic language of the grammar and rhetoric, as well as the reading texts contain difficult and complex words which led to the feeling of being burdened in learning reading skills. Through analysis of the results of the questionnaire, it was noted that the students had tendency towards Islamic contents, and texts which contain common Arabic words used in the Malay language. |
