Description
Summary:This research was designed to identify mathematics teachers' achievement goals and to describe their achievement motivations in secondary school in Malaysia. A qualitative research was conducted among secondary school mathematics teachers. A total of 3 interviewees were selected. Content analysis and critical discourse analysis on analysing three sources of data collection have been carefully applied. This study identifies that the main goal mathematics teachers want to achieve is developing students. Apart from that, this study also observed mathematics teachers are highly motivated by support from peers, family and students development. However, all the interviewees are married female teachers. Therefore, it was recommended that future research will study on differences and similarities of achievement goals and motivations between male and female mathematics teachers.
