The serving of halal-certified food, easy access to facilities for salat (prayers), segregation of genders in the seating arrangement and food-waste management are among the crucial issues that should be addressed in event management guidelines. In addition, the occurrence of common elements which are non-Shari'ah compliant such as un-Islamic entertainment, music and excessive budgets in managing events, are among the important issues that need to be examined. This research studies event management standards and Shari'ah-compliant event management in Malaysia. The study attempts to develop Muslim-friendly event management guidelines to provide more comprehensive Islamic event guidelines that stress on Shari'ah-compliant standards for event management in Malaysia. The nature of the research is conceptual, featuring a qualitative methodology that combines descriptive and analytical components. The study also utilizes interviews. Interviews are conducted with three professional event management practitioners to gauge their responses to event management in Malaysia and Shari'ah-compliant guidelines. A pilot interview is conducted to assess and make necessary amendments of interview questions and procedure. The results of the study find good acceptance of event management Shari'ah-compliant standards (SCEMS) by practitioners of event management in Malaysia. Apparently, Shari'ah-compliant event management standards are suitable and acceptable to be implemented and practiced in Malaysia as they are friendly to Muslims and non-Muslims as well. These results show the success of the proposed SCEMS towards achieving Shari'ah-compliant event management. | ||
