Summary: | This study focuses on an approach to build an electronic monolingual interactive dictionary that serves students studying Arabic as a second language. It is a very special dictionary because of its ability to process data interactively and provide its users with words route, different types of derivations than the general meaning, specific meaning in addition to examples. It also supports words' audio pronunciation, images and videos when available. The research approaches adopted inductive and analytical software. When using the inductive method, the researcher tried to provide an adequate synopsis of the nature of ancient and modern lexical studies focusing on lexical studying ancient Arabic era, and the most important features of the evolution in the modern dictionary industry using reference books, articles, notes, and texts available related to building interactive computer dictionaries. With both approaches applied the researcher was able to visualize the lexicon building and provide a computer model of the proposed application. |
