總結:The people of Mijikenda tribe have customs and practices that originated from their forefathers and among such customs are those that pertain to the concept of marriage. One of their common practices during the marriage is the act of predicting the future of the marriage by consulting a fortune teller who observes the arrangement of the stars and even sets up the time and date of the marriage based on his findings. This study focuses on the stand of Islamic law based on marriage practices of the Mijikenda tribe. It outlines the differences between those practices and Islamic laws as well as giving some recommendations. The research methodology applied in this study is the inductive method: the researcher reviewed references and studied dissertations relating to marriage customs in Mijikenda tribe. SPSS software was used to determine the credibility of information combined with descriptive statistics through Alpha Cronbach. In addition, the researcher used the comparative method by comparing the Islamic law provisions and the Mijikenda traditions. Similarities and differences and the impacts of the two practices methods were elaborated in detail. The researcher conducted interviews with Mijikenda tribe to understand the underlying socio-religious factors on the practice of marriage prediction, Open-ended questions were used during the interview involving were couples and council elders as respondents. The study concludes with major results as follows: The researcher has gathered about eighteen legal violations in relation to this practice. Therefore, the research recommends a systematic process of educating the people of Mijikenda on the true Islamic concept of marriage.
