| Summary: | Thematic unity is a contemporary term that epitomizes one of the features of Quranic style, standing as an evidence to one aspect of the miracle of the Quran. Hence, thematic unity has gained momentum and the full attention of scholars today for they have laid down the foundation and rules of such current term. However, this care, shown by the scholars, did not go beyond educational and moral implication of the term. This study highlights the analysis of the Quranic text. Furthermore, it aims at explaining the connotations and implications that the Quranic text contains, and their implications on Islamic laws and jurisprudence. It aims at laying down a general framework that determines the regulations guiding this theory by bringing seemingly disunited units altogether in one independent entity. The study uses inductive and analytical approach. The study has concluded that thematic unity understood in a specific approach like this has a great impact on the way legal rulings are extrapolated. This is a key focal point on which the scholars of Usul al-Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) rely chiefly in deducing Islamic rulings from the Quranic texts. For them the use of a holistic approach to studying such texts is a contemporary linguistic venture of interpreting them by way of implication. In addition, the significance of applying thematic unity on Quranic texts, by way of comparison, has led to different viewpoints in judging the implications such texts inform. It is to this that many different viewpoints by Islamic scholars are attributed. |
