Summary: | This study seeks to reveal the interrelationship between the art of poetry and cinematography. In other words, the study aims at investigating the intersection between the poetic and cinematic discourses. The Arabic poem has always sought, whether intentionally or casually, to cinematize the poetic text in order to attain the highest level of visualization by employing the highest techniques of cinematography. The study therefore, focuses on the use of cinematic techniques used by the Syrian poet, Moyaed Reda Hejazy, in his Divan titled Eter Al Yasmin, with the purpose of exploring the cinematic aspect of the poem through the poetic montage. This achieved montage of the poem was structured on monometer, which separates the different scenes from each other. The study also attempted to concentrate on the poetic scenes by identifying on the different elements that make up the poetic scene, and then try to describe how those elements handled the poetic shot in a cinematic manner. In this respect, there was much focus on the poetic scenes, in terms of angles and dimensions as moved and displayed by the camera of the poet. Hence, the relationship between this dramatic shot was scrutinized, and the whole scene was subjected to meticulous analysis of audio- visual elements, taking into consideration elements of embellishment, lightening, which are conveyed by sound, visual and color images. This study investigates how all those elements intensively combined with each other, thus coming up with consecutive pictorial scenes that resulted in an orchestrated signification of all embedded meanings in a very lively manner, which reinforced the written and verbalized words. In this respect, the motion pictures helped to induce pleasure in the reader, who is expected to be the recipient of such significant meanings encoded in the poem. It was found out, that the poet, Hejazi employed his production skills by integrating the form and content and producing unique aesthetics that adorn the dramatic scenes with transparent connotations conveyed by abrupt and surprising deviations. Such departure from dramatic to narrative added to the aesthetics of the poem through the careful and creative orchestration of the audio-visual elements, thus producing such rhythmic tunes that helped to transform the reader from mere recipient into an on-looker reader. |
