Description
Summary:This research sought to create a new strategy for learning and memorising the Chinese characters in a fun and enjoyable way, especially with the use of visualisation and association (V&A) learning strategy. In the design of the visualisation and association learning strategy, several innovative learning strategies were used such as combining morphing, multimedia learning theory, visual presentation of the evolution theory, visualisation and association, and Ideogrammic Compounds of Chinese character formation. In this research, Ideogrammic Compounds of Chinese characters (ICCC) are the main focus as this formation of Chinese characters is the most superior to other Chinese character formations because the concept of ICCC formation still applies until today. The proposed learning strategy in this study has been designed accordingly with the integration of multiple strategies proposed to form the visualisation and association learning strategy. In this study, the acceptance study and the effectiveness study of the proposed learning strategy were carried out and statistically tested. The statistical results of both studies were then used to analyse whether the proposed learning strategy could be accepted and effective for adoption by the Chinese as foreign language (CFL) learners, as compared to the current digitalized multimedia learning strategy.
