总结: | To increase the information-carrying capacity of a single optical fibre that uses wavelength division multiplexing, optical channels in other spectral bands must be made use of, namely S- and L-bands, not just in C-band. In any transmission medium, the signal will get attenuated and must be boosted. This can be achieved by fibre amplifiers where gain and noise figure are the fundamental performance criteria. The aim of this study is to investigate and explain how macro-bending affects the 1500-nm amplified spontaneous emission, gain, and noise figure of an erbium-gallium-co-doped silica fibre amplifier in S-band. Using different fibre lengths, the fibre is bent with the same set of bending radii. Analysis is done by comparing the amplified spontaneous emission, gain, and noise figure before bending with after bending. |
