Summary:For the past few decades, Malaysia has been housing its people to support the growing population. The population is expected to reach 32 million in the next two decades. To fulfil the demand, the government has taken the action of increasing the number of housing needs for the people, including the low income group who stay in low cost houses. It is the government’s responsibility as well as other related party’s responsibility to provide the comfortable places for the population. This also includes providing adequate and good safety and security for the people. Overall objective of this dissertation is to highlight on safety and security of low cost housing areas. It is also to identify the safety and security in building structures. This dissertation is focused on low cost flat in Selangor Darul Ehsan. Questionnaires will be distributed to 150 respondents to gather data and finally make an analysis on the findings.
