Summary: | With the introduction of social networking site such as Facebook and Instagram, it is becoming easier for us to share information with our friends at any time and from anywhere we want. Sharing information online creates a concern about privacy and in previous studies, issues related to online privacy have been discussed extensively. Protecting privacy in the online world is a never ending battle for adult, and it's even more with children .Parents' who are too eager to share update about their children might risks the children's privacy when they unintentionally posts sensitive information about them. The purpose of this research is to have a better understanding on children's perspective to social network privacy when their parent share update about them online. We conducted a qualitative research by interviewing parents and children between the ages of 10 to 18 years old and performed an observation on the parent's social media page. The results showed that children do have concern about certain photos that their parents posted online and in addition, it showed children understand what should be considered as private information and the importance of safe guarding the details. |
