Summary:Polymer blends provide the flexibility in producing new materials, and in some cases, polymer blends display improved properties as compared to their constituent polymers. Most polymer blends are immiscible and show multiphase systems whose properties are usually inferior to those of the single components due to poor interfacial adhesion between the phases. Hence, immiscible polymer blends require compatibilization to stabilize the morphology and enhance the adhesion between the phases. Although many works have discussed the effects of compatibilization in immiscible blends, the assessment of the compatibility in some cases is challenging.
