The logs, on average 10ft. long and diameter ranging from 26cm to 30cm at the mid-point produced a total of 1.56m3. Total volume of lumber recovered from the input was 0.87m3 or equivalent to 56%. Results from the 9 logs showed that average sawn timber recovery for bottom, middle and top were respectively 47.73%, 60.83% and 58.75%. The middle level had the highest lumber recovery compared to the other levels. Meanwhile, the outer portions showed the higher recovery compared to inner portion of the trunk with average recovery were respectively 38.19% and 18.25%. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there were variation in of the sawn timber recovery according to the height level (bottom, middle and top) and outer and inner portions of the trunk.
