Virus screening of cultured carp and tilapia species and the virus sensitivity of cell cultures from indigenous fish species

Three virus particles were isolated in vitro and tentatively classified into three groupings, namely Herpesviridae, Birnaviridae and Iridoviridae. Virus groupings were based on the ultrastructural morphology and cytopathology observed. Distinct virus-like cytopathic effects were noted on four...

Virus groupings were based on the ultrastructural morphology and cytopathology observed. Distinct virus-like cytopathic effects were noted on four established fish cell lines viz. CHSE-214, GCK-84, EPC and TmB, utilized in the study. The virus-like particles, from pelleted infected cell cultures and clarified cell culture supernatant, were visualized under transmission electron microscopy. Virus titration utilizing BB cells for the Birnavirus-like isolate achieved a mean titre of 7.40 X 105 TClD50/ml. Relatively high virus titres were also recorded Fakulti Perikanan dan Sains Samudera 1994-03 Thesis en http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/89 http://umt-ir.umt.edu.my:8080/jspui/bitstream/123456789/89/3/license.txt 8a4605be74aa9ea9d79846c1fba20a33 http://umt-ir.umt.edu.my:8080/jspui/bitstream/123456789/89/4/SH%20167%20C3%20A4%201994%20Abstract.pdf f1dc13370188d1bbb7b6e609d59a6386 http://umt-ir.umt.edu.my:8080/jspui/bitstream/123456789/89/5/SH%20167%20C3%20A4%201994.pdf ae0d5ab5d0027504488b854fc6c6b188 http://umt-ir.umt.edu.my:8080/jspui/bitstream/123456789/89/6/SH%20167%20C3%20A4%201994%20Abstract.pdf.txt 0dd11fc2f810e596a3948f86a4209bd5 http://umt-ir.umt.edu.my:8080/jspui/bitstream/123456789/89/7/SH%20167%20C3%20A4%201994.pdf.txt 238013ae5cdb97cf064744eed2bfa242 SH 167 .C3 A4 1994 SH167 .C3 A4 1994 Juan Deanon Albaladejo Virus screening of cultured carp and tilapia species and the virus sensitivity of cell cultures from indigenous fish species
