總結:Uncontrollable discharge of heavy metals has adversely affected human beings and environment. In this research, zirconium-based magnetic sorbent was synthesized by co precipitation method and explored as a potential sorbent for removal of divalent metal ions; Cu2+, Zn2+, and Cd2+ from aqueous solution. The sorbent could easily be separated from aqueous solution under the influence of an external magnetic field due to their ferromagnetism property. The interaction characteristics between the ions and the sorbent were elucidated by instrumental analyses such as Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, particle size analyzer (PSA), scanning electron microscopic-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), and Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller (BET) surface area analyzer. Uptake of the heavy metal ions showed a pH-dependent profile with maximum sorption at around pH 5. The sorption rate was increased with an increase in contact time and initial metal ion concentration which mostly found to have followed the postulate of pseudo second-order kinetic model. The validity of kinetic models applied in this study was evaluated by using a normalized standard deviation.
