Summary:This thesis compares and analyses the doctrine of resurrection in Islam and reincarnation in Hinduism. This thesis focuses on the concept of life after death in both religions. There are some elements and stages of life after death that has been discussed in this thesis as the core discussion. This Thesis is primarily based on library work employing content analysis, historical, and comparative methods, in which theological books of the two religions were studied. References are made to the writings of classical, medieval and modem Muslim and Hindus theologians, whose views and thoughts on the subject were discussed. The similarities and differences as found among these conceptions on life after death between Islam and Hinduism are indicated. Chapter One contains the opening remarks of the thesis including the background of study, objectives, questions, scope and method of study, as well as the literature review. Chapter Two provides the discussion on the concept of resurrection in Islam. Chapter three demonstrates on the doctrine of reincarnation in Hinduism. Chapter four analyses the nature and elements on the concept of resurrection in Islam and reincarnation in Hinduism. After that, the thesis offers conclusion. The thesis concluded that both religions do believe in the concept of life after death; however they differ on their details. Islam believes that life after death is eternal life and there will be no more death and birth after it. However, Hinduism believes that people will be continuous reincarnated according to their karma (the law of cause and effects).
