This thesis aims to evaluate the Teaching Module for the Malaysian Braille
Quran (MPQBM) based on the views of the Quranic teachers in teaching the
Malaysian Braille Quran. There are various modules for teaching al-Quran
which are available in the market, however, not many of them have been
specifically developed for person with disability (PWD) with visual impairment
to learning al-Quran using Mashaf Al-Quran Braille Malaysia (MQBM) that was
developed. Considering that MPQBM was just published in 2022 and is among
the earliest modules that explain MQBM writing, no study on the quality
assessment of the module has been conducted. Therefore, this study targets three
objectives: (1) to study the background of MPQBM development, (2) to assess
the quality of MPQBM, and (3) to analyse the acceptance of Quranic teachers in
Malaysia towards MPQBM. This study uses a qualitative approach by document
analysis method and conducting interviews with experts who are developing
MPQBM and Quranic Braille teachers in Malaysia. The interview sessions were
conducted with two representative panels who developed the module to fulfil the
first objectives of this study, and six Quranic Braille teachers to achieve the
second and third objectives of this study. The findings of this study indicate that
MPQBM has been accepted by the study participants, including both sighted and
visually impaired Braille Quranic teachers, and it has achieved a good level of
quality as an educational module. All study participants also agreed that
MPQBM is suitable as a teaching aid for a deeper understanding of Braille
Quran. The study results also indicate that this module meets the users’ needs
especially in terms of usability. Based on the findings of the study, several
shortcomings in MPQBM have been identified and subsequently discussed for
improvement purposes. It has the potential to assist educational institutions,
Quran teachers, and researchers in delivering the best in the Teaching and
Learning process, especially in the field of Braille Quran. |
