Description
Summary:I he technological progress in the domain of Internet and information technology have introduced many electronic document files with sensitive data stored on disk drives this, on the other hand, creates marry vulnerable threats to Violate the issue of trust and privacy of these document tiles without users' awareness. Therefore, providing, a trusted storage for them becomes a challenging issue in today's security, with an urgent need for reliable and robust security techniques to mitigate such threats. Storage encryption is the most cost-effective solution to provide a robust protection against attacks. However, if the encryption is not properly implemented and properly applied, it may affect the performance of the cryptosystem. A huge number of encryption applications reside in user space are available to provide the encryption utility for different file types stored on disk. Unfortunately, such encryption applications suffer from limited security, flexibility, performance, in addition to the user convenience. This is due to the manual nature of encryption applications which are totally based on user to select sensitive files and to supply secret keys manually whenever the files are used. To address such limitations, it is required to perform all encryption, decryption and key management operations automatically in transparent manner with minimum users interaction. This can be realized if the encryption is performed with the help of the operating system file systems. This research describes the current spatial data files protection techniques based on transparent encryption approach. Then, a secure cryptographic file system for automatic encryption and decryption of stored electronic documents by taking advantages of the File system in the User space (FUSE) technology and using -DES symmetric cipher is proposed. The developed cryptographic tile system can easily realize a documented file and transparently performs the operations of encryption, decryption and key management at the line grain level of that document tile in a fully seamless planner. The experiments have been carried out to measure its performance efficiency. By using such approach, a sufficient level of security can be achieved for storage electronic documents in a high performance level and with a lowest possible overhead to the user.
