| Summary: | The Rohingya Muslim minority in Myanmar,the Arakan region,suffers from a crisis that has affected all aspects of their lives.Through the crisis developed and become fateful issue because the Rohingya minority faced several dangers,including ethnic cleansing and deportation,the role of the media in publicizing it was limited.Therefore, the problem of this study centered on identifying the efforts of Arab satellite channels in the media coverage of the issue of the Muslim Rohingya minority.The coverage was studied to reveal the causes and consequences of the crisis and the efforts made to end it as well as the as the media framework in which it was developed.This crisis has greatly exacerbated and there is no prospect of an end to it.The study aimed to identify the media framework, the content analysis categories and the form categories included in the coverage.It is a descriptive study that used Quantitative approach, survey and comparative method to conduct it. By analysing the media content published in the channels of the study sample, specifically Al-Jazeera news channel, and the BBC Arabic channel regarding news coverage concerning the Muslim Rohingya minority, the study reached a number of findings. The findings include, but not limited to, the authenticity of the Muslim Rohingya ethnicity in Arakan Myanmar and that the Myanmar authorities are using systematic methods to eliminate the presence of Muslim Rohingya in Arakan region.It was also found that there was international silence and an Islamic default on these events. It was found that media coverage had adopted the framework of the conflict to cover the events that the military campaign was the main cause of the crisis and the most important results were the displacement and removal of the Rohingya from Arakan.The efforts made by the United Nations and news coverage made no solution on the ground. The coverage focused on the region of Arakan to a large extent and also shows that the two channels of the study sample has made great efforts in the field of coverage of these events contributed to the definition of this issue internationally and on the Arab level.The coverage was characterized by objectivity,impartiality and high professionalism. The study recommended that the Rohingya Issue should be adopted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) by recognizing Arakan as an occupied Islamic member state. It was also found out that there is a need for Islamic news to promote the crisis to become an issue of international and Islamic public opinion in oder to pressure the decision-makers of the United Nations and to issue resolutions that contribute to alleviate their suffering and solve their problems. |
