Summary:This research projet is to study the reasons on why less Malay Muslims of Ampang participated in business activities. Compared to the non-Muslims,they are left far behind in every sectors of trade activities. Therefore the researcher is trying to identify the various factors that csuse this phenomena. The main objective of this research is to find out Malay Muslims perception about business, management weakness and the various business problems facing them. Beside that this research is studying why they are lacking in Islamic management ethics and their attitude of being complacent towards business activities. This research managed to distribute about 360 hard copy of questionnaires to the business residents of Ampang. However only 300 copies of the questionnaires which contain their demographic and ethnographic information, managed to be collected with the relevant information.Business premises involving restaurants, service sector, property markets, retailing, wholesales, medicine & dentistry, boutiques,automotive and so forth were involved. Mixed method of analysis using descriptive and quantitative research methods was conducted to obtain the necessary information. All of the data was transformed into significant information using the concept analysis of ‘Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)’. The results derived from this research shows most Malay Muslims are not aware of the importance of businesses in the economy, they lack business knowledge and they do not know how to take advantage of the business opportunities lies ahead of them. Other factors such as lacking in business spirit, lack of perseverance, poor business norms and the common attitude of lingering in the comfort zone; resulted in the Malay Muslims poor involvement in business activities.
