To achieve these objectives, the descriptive and analytical approach was implemented. The questionnaire was the main instrument of the study for data collection.The questionnaire was distributed throw Google Form to the respondents. 420 questionnaires were valid. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was utilized to analyze data This study depended on cultivation theory. The findings of the study showed that the main reasons of watching The Revival of Ertugrul is to identify oneself with the establishment of the Ottoman Caliphate followed by discovering the conspiracies that this caliphate faced. It also showed that the two values that influenced the Palestinian universities’ students most are the values of affiliation and justice. These values showed that they were most corelated with the role of watching the series, and then the similarity with the Palestinian case. The results also revealed that the role of the historical drama represented in The Revival of Ertugrul slightly strengthened the political values of males more than females, and that the values of justice, citizenship and shura were strengthened more in terms of age for the group of more than 25 years old. Moreover, the findings showed that there is a statistically significant differences in respect of the rate of watching for three hours or more weekly which identifies with the theory implemented. The most important recommendation of the study are the need for future studies concerning the political values that concern the Palestinian students the most. Also, there is a need for conducting future studies on the similarity between the incidents of historical Turkish drama (such as the Sultan Abdul Hamid series, Kut al-Amara, and the Resurrection of Othman) and the Palestinian status que. In addition, there is a need to prioritize the purposeful drama in Palestine because of its importance of directing and affecting the audience. |
