Summary: | The study problem consists of highlighting the media treatment of the Iraqi satellite channels, and the contrast in dealing with news of violence at the Al-Iraqiya and Fallujah satellite channels, due to the different references, sources of funding and the degree of focus and interest given by each of the two channels, the case of this study, to the nature of the event. The study aims at clarifying the news content diffused by the main bulletins of channels on the crisis between 1/1/2017 and 1/6/2017, and revealing the purpose, direction and methods of the processing, by defining the news frames used in the two channels, the elements of highlighting the used media arts and the personalities hosted during the news performance. The study adopted the descriptive analytical and comparative methodology, especially the tool of the content analysis, to explore the aspects of the media handling of violence news in Iraq. The study reached many results: -The 2 channels focused more on the security news that topped the scene at the main news bulletins, followed by politics and humanitarian news, - as for the media frames used to deal with news of violence, on Al-Iraqiya channel, the frame of conflict and solutions came first, followed by humanitarian concerns, while in Fallujah channel the conflict frame ranked first, the humanitarian concerns then the solutions frame. – The Al-Iraqiya channel complied with the policy of the Iraqi state and its approach of dealing with events and situations, which led to its neglect of a large number of violence news and to ignore the government's failure during the violence crisis in Iraq, unlike the Fallujah satellite channel, its news formulation had a kind of freedom in expressing events, given that it is a private channel and has no governmental affiliations during the study period, which helped it to diffuse some news that shows the failure of the government and its related parts during the violence crisis in Iraq. This confirms differentiation between the two channels. The study recommended that those working in satellite channels shall demonstrate impartiality, neutrality, objectivity and the will to present facts to the public, no matter how inconsistent with the ideologies of the satellite channels owners. |
