Description
Summary:In this era of technology, mobile learning is one of the ways to motivate and attracted students on learning Science. There is an existence of Science learning issue in the four Science construct which are science process skills, understanding, application and knowledge for Malaysia’s students. Hence, there is a necessity of finding suitable strategies to help Science learning in Malaysia’s education. This study was mainly focused on the effect of mobile application for secondary pupils’ Science learning performance in topic ‘Microorganism and its effect’ based on four science construct. This study also intended to find out the perceptions of Form 5 pupils on acceptance of mobile application ‘microb’ in learning. The study investigated the relationship between the overall Science performance of pre-test and post-test and the influence of application “microb’ towards Science performance. The sample group consisted of 30 Form 5 pupils from a secondary school in Johor Bahru district had been selected through purposive sampling for this quantitative study. Survey, pre-test and post-test were being used to collect the data of the study. The results showed that the pupils’ acceptance of mobile application is highly positive based on the four Science construct. According to the findings, although there was no relationship between both of the overall performance tests and no influence found in the study but positive effect of mobile application ‘microb’ was found on the Form 5 pupils Science performance in topic ‘Microoganism and its effect’ based on science process skills, understanding, application and knowledge. The findings of this study will provide a vital contribution to the education field by giving a new option of choosing mobile application ‘microb’ as educational tool to enhance Science learning education. Overall, mobile application ‘microb’ in technology can be a good educational tool for Science learning but educators must organise the lesson plan well by not deviating from the key focus of the learning.
