Sanitary engineering Water quality has received considerable attention in allocation processes for maximizing the satisfaction of various sectors. However, pollutant impurities that impede adequate supply of water have a detrimental effect on the quality and harmful for living organisms. For the reduction of water river pollution level, various chemical and biological treatments are available but most of them are costly and non-eco-friendly. However, effective microorganism (EM) technology can save the cost and safely able to purify and clean rivers pollution. Therefore, mathematical model for river pollution has been developed and the effect of EM on the degradation of pollutant in river is studied. The model equations consist of a system of three one dimensional non-linear partial differential equations (PDE). A mathematical model has been simulated to describe degradation of pollutant in river. By using MAPLE software, explicit finite difference method is used to solve the system of non-linear PDE. To see the effect of addition of EM on river pollution, the three cases need to be considered where three different initial bacterial concentrations (25 50 ) are used. Based on the results, a low concentration of pollutant can be achieved in shorter distance and time when higher bacterial concentrations applied. 2013-01 Thesis http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/33217/ http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/33217/5/MuhammadSyarifuddinHilmiMFS2013.pdf application/pdf en public http://dms.library.utm.my:8080/vital/access/manager/Repository/vital:69064?site_name=Restricted Repository masters Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Faculty of Science Faculty of Science |
