Summary:This study was conducted to identify mate selection scenarios based on four main factors, namely property, lineage, beauty and religion as well as the tendency of sexual misconduct behaviors among the participants of pre Islamic wedding course held in Johor Bahru. This study also identified the relationship between the tendency of choosing a mate with sexual misconduct activity behaviors among respondents. A total of 500 respondents participated in this study and data were collected using of questionnaires and analyzed by using SPSS version 16.0. The value of Alpha Cronbach for the items in the pilot study that was conducted for the questionnaire was 0.797. From the results, it was found religious criteria are given priority in the mate selection (µ=2.38), followed by beauty (µ=2.02), lineage (µ=1.94) and property (µ=1.93). However, this study had shown that there was a pattern of worrying tendency because religious factor had given less priority in the selection of pairs by some respondents. The study also found that there were acts of sexual misconduct involving holding hands (80.2%), hugging (64.6%), kissing (52.6%),, rubbing (42.0%), oral sex (33.0%) and sexual intercourse or zina (28.0%) among the respondents. The study also found that the majority of respondents were identified have been involved in one or more of the sexual misconduct activities. However, studies had found only a tendency of choosing a mate based on property and lineage which had significant relations to the sexual misconduct behavior before marriage. Therefore, some suggestions and recommendations were given as a guide to the relevant parties in dealing the negative factors that had been identified in this study apart from efforts to improve human capital development that had been implemented
