Summary: | The purpose of this study is to identify the level of work engagement and job satisfaction level based on demographic factors (gender, race and service term). A total of 97 Physical Education teachers from Muar District were chosen to represent the population and they were distributed according to three zones; the City Zon, Parit Jawa Zone and Pagoh Zone. The primer data is gathered through a questionnaire based on and modified from the Job Description Index (JDI) in order to identify the satisfaction level while Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ) is used to identify the work engagement level. The validity and reliability of the instrument is tested using Alpha Cronbach scale towards 20 teachers in the Muar District. The pilot study shows a high reliability of 0.860 for job satisfaction and a 0.854 for the work engagement level. The data is analyzed using Statistical Package for the School Science (SPSS) version 16 to get the mean, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and Spearman Correlation. The study showed that the teachers’ job satisfaction and work engagement is at a high level. The study also shows no significant differences in the level of job satisfaction and work engagement based on gender, race and year of service. The correlation analysis showed a medium correlation between job satisfaction and work engagement of Physical Education teachers in the Muar District. Lastly, some suggestion for future research are offered. |
