| Summary: | Islam is a religion that governs all aspects of human life, including politics. Political thought is the intellectual basis in forming a political system to organize the life of the community as well as being the spirit of the administration of the country. In the current political reality in Indonesia, there are still many deviations in political ideology. The issue of secularism and communism against Islam is the biggest cause of injustice and the crisis of the leader's character. As a result, there is often social conflict and injustice in the country's administration. Added to this is the problem of the leader's character, which gives rise to corrupt behaviour, breach of trust, and deviation from religious values. Undeniably, the solution to this problem can be found in Islamic politics. Thus, this study was conducted to examine the political thought of Mohammad Natsir, a famous Islamic political figure in Indonesia. This study has three objectives which are to examine Mohammad Natsir's thought pattern and the factors that influenced the formation of his thought, identify the basic framework of his political thought, and analyse its relevance in the current political framework of Indonesia. This qualitative study uses literature review and in-depth interviews to collect data. While the content analysis method is used to analyse the collected data. The study found that Mohammad Natsir's political thought is very relevant to be implemented in Indonesian politics today because it can provide solutions to the ongoing political problems. This is because Mohammad Natsir has succeeded in laying down the principles of Islamic politics that are appropriate to the context of the political and social life of the Indonesian society which consists of various races, religions, languages and cultures. The essence of Islamic teachings is used as a strategic approach and becomes a point of relevance for his political thought. Thus, this study can give exposure to the parties involved in the political field and also the public about the form of political thinking that can provide solutions to the current political ideology issue in Indonesia. |
