Summary:The purpose of this study is to identify teacher's toward the actual leadership style among principals of gred A secondary school in Baling/Sik district of Kedah Darul Aman. The pattern of principals' style is categorized into initiating structure and consideration. The objectives of this study were to investigate a) the relationship between organizational commitment and leadership style, b) the differences between leadership style among the principals based on teachers demographic factors, and d)the influence of indipendent variable on leadership style. 150 teachers from four secondary school participated in this study. They represented Malayss, Chinese and Indian teachers from rural district. A set of questionnaire containing 65 item using five-points likert-type was applied to measure the teachers' responses. Statistical tools such as using Pearson Correlation, t-test, Analysis of Variance and Multiple Regression wer used to test these hypotheses. The result of this study revealed there was significant relationship between teachers commitment (affective commitment and continous commitment) and principals leadership style in term initiating structure and consideration. There was significant relationship between school climate and leadership style. The result was identified that leadership style was no significantly different among teachers based on gender, age, race, marital status, length of service and qualification of academic. Some suggestions have been offered based on these finding to enhance leadership style among principals.
