Summary:After an appraisal system is implemented in our organization, it should be evaluated to ensure that the system achieved the target effectively. Objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Modification of the New Performance Appraisal System of the Public Service in evaluating the job performance of supporting group one officers in Perlis State Secretary Office. Specifically it aims to identify demographic factors that contribute to the effectiveness of performance appraisal, to determine the validity of the content and practicality of work performance measurement tools and also to identify rating errors and factors that off performance rating in accuracy. This study was descriptive in nature. The sample which was taken from the Perlis State Secretary Office, consisted of 100 officers in supporting group one. The SAS program was used in analysing the data. The performance measurement instrument was found to be moderately representing the important aspects of supporting group one officers. The finding, of this study will significantly contribute to the improvement of the effectiveness of the Modification New Performance Appraisal System of the Public Service.
