Summary: | This study examines the influence of three traditional accounting- based measures- including book value of share, earning per share, and return on assets-on market value of construction and material companies listed in Malaysian stock exchange using data drawn from 87 companies listed in Malaysian stock exchange for a period of six years from 2003 to 2008. By using correlation and regression analysis
, the results support the hypothesis that companies with higher book value, earning per share and return on assets perform better in term of market value. However, the findings of the study show that the influence of these three independent variables is limited, suggesting that there are other factors–intangible in its nature-seem to be more influence on market value than the traditional accounting–based measures. |
