Description
Summary:The purpose of the study is to identify the constraints faced by secondary school cooperatives in the district of Kubang Pasu, Kedah Darul Aman. This study attempts to find the answer to whether the constraints faced by secondary schools in this district are due to capital, location, act and products/services. This study contains 3 main components namely, individual characteristics, demography and cooperative related factors as the independent variables, while the dependent variables are capital, location, act and products/services. Respondents consist of students who have been members of these school cooperatives from Form One through Form Six. The sample population is 2331 cooperative members. 30% of 371 members were chosen from the population by the mean of Stratified Random Sampling to ensure the validity of the study. A pilot study was conducted at Sekolah Menengah Sultan Abdul Halim, Jitra to ascertain the validity level of the question constructed. The Cronbach Alpha value obtained showed that the level was high which was 0.759. In the study, the questionnaires were used to gather information and responses needed. 4 schools were selected for the study whereby 2 of them are in the Grade A category while the other 2 fall into the Grade B category. The questions were divided into 2 sections. The first section contained the independent variables which consisted of 13 questions while the second section contained the dependent variables consisted of 22 questions related to cooperative constraints. The data analysis was made by using the t-test, ANOVA, and Multiple Regression Analysis. The result of the test showed that there is no significant relation between cooperative constraints and gender, age, race, teacher’s support and students’ awareness. However, it was found that there is a significant relation between level of education, family income, family size, school location, and school grade with cooperatives constraints. On the other hand, the result of the Multiple Regression Test showed that there is a significant relation between cooperative constraints and independent variables at the level of significance p < 0.05.
