Although construction player already knows the advantages of IBS, but at the same time, implementation of IBS in Malaysia is still in low phase. Based on literature review, there are several obstacles to IBS implementation which are awareness, cost issues, readiness, planning & implementation, negative perception incentive, directive & promotion, knowledge and project delivery and supply chain. Readiness is one of the obstacles of IBS implementation and there is limited study of readiness factors for implementing IBS at present. This highlights the need of research in deep on the readiness in order to increase the implementation of IBS in Malaysia Construction Industry. This research aims to explore the key factors of readiness that influence the IBS implementation and develop a readiness framework towards transformation from conventional methods to IBS. This research used qualitative approach for research method and interviews for research technique. Multidisciplinary Malaysian IBS expert experience in IBS was used to get more information of the IBS in the current practice, which is involved four respondents for data collection and four others respondent for framework validation. Finding from data interview and literature review, there are three key factors that influence readiness in the implementation of IBS. The key factors are suitability, knowledge and ability. From these three key factors, frameworks are formed for more understandable. Other than that, the output can also be used as a guideline for construction players towards the betterment of IBS implementation by introducing the factors that should be emphasized to make sure they ready to implement IBS and get advantages from it. 2018 Thesis https://etd.uum.edu.my/9999/ https://etd.uum.edu.my/9999/1/s816553_01.pdf text eng public https://etd.uum.edu.my/9999/2/s816553_02.pdf text eng public https://etd.uum.edu.my/9999/3/s816553_reference.docx text eng public other masters Universiti Utara Malaysia
