Summary: | The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of an augmented realitycourseware (ARC-3DM) towards the students 3D modelling performance at a communitycollege. This 3D Augmented Reality Courseware was developed using ADDIE model. The mainresearch design used in this study to determine the effect of the courseware was a quasi-experimentwith pre- and post-tests. The instruments used in this study consisted of pre- and post-tests and aset questionnaire to measure the users perception on the usability of the courseware. The sampleof the study consisted of 54 students randomly assigned into a control group (n=27) and a treatmentgroup (n=27). Pre- and post-tests were conducted to both groups. System Usability Scale(SUS) questionnaire was administered to the treatment group in order to determine the perceivedusability of the ARC-3DM courseware after the treatment. Descriptive and inferential statisticssuch as percentage, mean, standard deviation, and ANCOVA were used to analyse the empirical data. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), with the pre-test scores being the covariates, were conductedat the = 0.05 level of significance. The key result of ANCOVA [F(1, 51) = 133.91; p <0.05]showed that the post-test of the treatment group (M=70.69; SD=17.25) was significantly higher thanthe post-test of the control group (M=53.48; SD=16.55). This indicated that after thefour-week treatment, the experimental group has achieved higher performance in 3D modelling ascompared to the control group. In addition, based on the SUS questionnaire, themajority (85%) of the respondents agreed that the ARC-3DM was helpful and user- friendly inimproving their 3D modelling skills. In conclusion, the ARC-3DM courseware was found tobe effective and useful in improving the users 3D modelling competence. The implication of this research findings suggest that integrating augmented reality technology into thelearning environment could optimize the learning experience and can enhance the students 3Dmodelling skills. This courseware could be used as a novel learning tool to assiststudents in learning 3D modelling more effectively. Keywords: Augmented reality courseware, 3D modelling performance, Effectivenessand usability. |
