Summary: | <p>Myth reflects the collective memory of a nation and is the source of national philosophy,</p><p>religion and literature. Since the 1930 s, mythology research in China are rising, although</p><p>there are many comparative study of Chinese and western myths in China, but the types and</p><p>research perspectives is unitary, and the lack of theoretical framework, of the comparison of</p><p>the myths about China and the Arab world almost no data can find, so the researcher decided</p><p>to set up bridge of Arab mythology and Chinese mythology research, the research field of</p><p>comparative study to enrich the research data. This thesis will focus on three research</p><p>questions: what are myths in Chinese and Arabic literature? What are the similarities and</p><p>differences between Arabic mythology and Chinese mythology? And what is the importance</p><p>of the mythical image of the phoenix in Arabic mythology and Chinese mythology? This</p><p>thesis is an exploratory and descriptive qualitative study. The researcher used a method of</p><p>comparative literary to achieve the research purpose. This thesis compares the image of</p><p>phoenix in Chinese mythology with that in Arabic mythology, explains the fundamental</p><p>difference between Arabic mythology and Chinese mythology, and discusses the great</p><p>influence of phoenix on Arabic literature and Chinese literature, as well as the extensive</p><p>significance of the myth in today's world.</p> |
