| الملخص: | The research aims at studying the concept of Islamic Literature in modern times. It
was initially developed by Syed Qutb and Muhammad Qutb and soon the idea began
to spread to the rest of the Arab and Islamic nations. The research finds that the
definition for the concept of Islamic Literature, albeit its differences among the critics
and literary figure, has bore more similar features than the differences. The research
also finds that the concept of Islamic Literature found its way to the Malay world and
was greatly influenced by the Arab world. Subsequently, Malay critics and literary
figures managed to form their interpretations of Islamic Literature. They took into
consideration the Islamic spirit without negating the importance of Malay society and
their indigenous literary culture. This formulation led to the birth of the Malay Islamic
Literature as the result of the efforts of the Malay literary figures and critics. The
study examines the common features between Arab Islamic literary figures and their
Malay counterparts. The study explores the development of the Malay Islamic
Literature as a consequence of the meeting of the Malay and Arab worlds. It is hoped
that the findings of this research will enhance better understanding of the two Arab
and Malay cultural encounters based on ideas and theoretical frameworks put forth in
this thesis. |
