Summary: | This study investigates two aspects of teaching Arabic as a second language. One is the theoretical aspect in using simile and its idiom and the ways of selecting and using texts. The other is the practical aspect, which is usmg simile methods in teaching the reading skill through selected literary texts. In this study, texts are chosen from the Holy Quran and the Hadith. In addition, it chose some literary texts which contain various styles of simile in order to train the students to appreciate those styles and understand what they read through an interesting presentation of selected readings . It is evident from the textual quotations, applied in this study and designed especially for this purpose, that its utilization is easy and of great importance in the field of education. Moreover, the utilization of simile encourages students to learn and enhance their positive tendency towards understanding the "Learning Unit", grammatically, semantically and literarily. |
